The images on this page are from a variety of different Korea Service Veterans, and they are displayed only with their approval. If you would like to post photos of your tour in Korea, please contact me. Also go here for photos of Ascom City and the villages nearby from the 2008 trip to Korea. The images here are of Ascom City at different times, from the 1950s to the 1970s when old Ascom City was finally closed. This first image  is a view of the 249th MP Compound and stockade, the setting for Seasons in the Kingdom.
Photo provided by Ronnie Partin, Korea 1968.
This panoramic view is of the entire 249th MP Detachment Compound, to include the stockade and the surrounding village as it was in 1968. Taken by Ronnie Partin from the hill behind the compound, the Quonset huts of the guard billets, and the larger rectangular buildings of the stockade can be seen.
This is a view of the 249th MP Detachment compound looking west from a tower that stood at the corner of the stockade compound. It was taken during the winter of 1973-74, from the guard tower looking in the direction from where the previous photo was taken. Directly in front was my barracks, and beyond that, just below the white church is the Cadre Corner, the compound EM club.

Photo of village taken from guard tower in the image directly above. The area in the foreground is gone. It is a four lane street that basically followed the direction of the ditch up the hillside. The image on the right is the intersection just outside of where the compound used to exist, and it is the street that goes straight up the hill where the ditch used run down through the village and alongside the compound.
Left, village street near stockade compound, 1973. Right, view toward the northwest from Guardtower, 1973.
