Korea 2008
The images in this archive were all taken during a tour of Korea in May, 2008. On each page click on the Korean gate and it will bring you back to this page. Day one: Depart Boston for Atlanta for over night stay.
Day two: Flight (DL92) 11.30AM departure from Atlanta for Incheon, 14 hour flight.
Day three: Incheon Arrival 3PM. Bus to Jeonju at 4PM arriving by 730PM in Jeonju.
Day four: Jeonju. The images for Jeonju include the historical sites, the Hanok Village, the paper making factory and street scenes.
Day five: Jeonju to Jinju. We took the train with a connection in Suncheon. Jinju proved to be a good location for side trips to other sites along the south coast.
Day six: Side trip to Nagan Village by regional bus to Suncheon and then local bus to Nagan Village.
Day seven: Side trip to Goseong. We took a regional bus to Goseong and the a local bus to a remote spot on the south coast to view dinosaur tracks. The images also include images from the travel to Goseong.
Day eight: Jinju to Haeinsa. We took a regional bus to Daegu, and then another regional bus to Haeinsa with an arrival by about 1230pm. Afternoon at the Haeinsa Monastery.
Day nine: Haeinsa to Gyeonju. Arrival by about 1pm. That afternoon we visited the Tumuli Park and other sites in the city.
Day ten: Bulguksa Temple. We took a local bus out to the Temple park, and then walked the 3.2 Kilometer path up to the Seokguram Grotto.
Day eleven: Gyeonju to Seoul. We took a local train to Daegu, or Dongdaegu station, where we connected with a KTX express train for Seoul, arriving about 12N. Visited the Gyeongbokgung Palace grounds during the afternoon.
Day twelve: Seoul. We visted the Dongdaemun market in the morning and then we took the tour of Chaengdeokgung Palace, which included a walk through part of the Biwon (Secret Garden)
Day thirteen: Seoul with side trip to Bupyeong and Ascom City. The Ascom City link will take you to the Seasons in the Kingdom pages.
Day fourteen: Seoul, Incheon and travel to Portland! Departed Incheon at 6pm, Atlanta 7PM (same day), Boston 12M, and then a two hour drive to Portland, Maine arriving at 2am the next morning.
